Blue Angels: Commander Naval Flight Demonstration Squadron, the command issued by the commander of Naval Air Training May 27. Commander, Dave Koss requested that Admiral Bill Sizemore release him from his command after weaker than normal to move the team's last performance in Lynchburg Regional Air Show May 22. Deep personal regret that I have divided my command now, I voluntarily leave the largest air demonstration team, "said Koss." I made a maneuver that was too low minimum altitudes. This maneuver, combined with other instances of not meeting the airborne standard that makes the Blue Angels the exceptional organization that it is, led to my decision to step down. I have the utmost respect for the Sailors and Marines of the Blue Angels organization and all that they embody. The reason this team is so successful, brings thrills to millions of fans across America, and represents the U.S. Navy so superbly, is because of the absolute commitment to safety and perfection by every member of the team. I am honored to have been a part of this organization, and I look forward to watching its success in the future. This requires the cancellation of performances by the Blue Angels "under Airfest Rockford June 4 to 5, and in June of Evansville Freedom Festival Air Show 11-12. The Blue Angels in Pensacola remain for further training and practical demonstration air show. Any change can plan the future of the team will be announced at a later date. Koss will be replaced by former Blue Angels official "command, Captain Greg McWherter, for the duration of the season. The Blue Angels are sorry for the inconvenience and hope to continue representing the Navy and the Marine Corps service members serving around the world.

Blackbeard: Archaeologists Friday raised the anchor of Queen Anne's Revenge, Blackbeard the pirate ship and its crew intentionally grounded off the coast of North Carolina in 1718. The anchor, one of the four carried on the ship, was on top of a pile of rubble, which seems to be the remains of the middle of the vessel including its cargo, "said Mark Wilde-Ramsing, a Deputy State Archaeologist and Project Director, Queen Anne's Revenge. The nearly 3000-pound anchor is the largest artifact yet recovered from the wreck of the notorious pirate's flagship. Next week, Wilde-Ramsing said, researchers hope to dig a small test hole into the side of the pile where the anchor was removed to get a sense of what else might be hidden there. They're particularly keen to find organic material such as seeds and spores that could help detail the pirates' stops in exotic ports. After blockading Charleston and holding hostages until terrified residents handed over a chest of medicine as ransom, the pirates ran their flagship aground near the inlet leading to Beaufort in what some think was an intentional act by Blackbeard to reduce the size of the fleet. Queen Anne's Revenge was originally the French slave ship La Concorde that Blackbeard and his band captured in the fall of 1717 in the Caribbean and renamed. He led a fleet of four ships pirate hunted prey in the Caribbean during the winter, so moved to the coast of the United States in spring of the 1718th Blackbeard, an Englishman whose real name was Edward considered Teach, was killed by Royal Navy sailors in a battle near Ocracoke few months later.

Today News Gil Scott –Heron: Seminal American artist Gil Scott Heron has passed away at the age of 62 following a short illness. Gil Scott Heron was born into a generation of African-American people radicalized by the Civil Rights struggle. Reading widely, the young poet would uncover a host of influences ranging from Langston Hughes to John Coltrane. Tracks such as 'The Revolution Will Not Be Televised' remain touchstones, while 'The Bottle' is an enduring jazz-funk classic. Inspired by doses of jazz and funk, Gil Scott Heron's seminal 70s output arguably laid the groundwork for rap. A heavy beat would be followed by his unmistakable voice, intoning often quite radical lyrics. Continuing to push himself, Gil Scott Heron tackled subjects such as nuclear power, Apartheid and more. However it is often the more tender, autobiographical works which stick out, such as the paean to the jazz age 'Lady Day And John Coltrane' or even the heart breaking tale of a father 'Pieces Of A Man Continually struggling with drug abuse, Gil Scott Heron was thought lost to the music scene after being given a heavy jail sentence at the start of the Millennium. However after serving his time the New York based artist re-emerged with the stunning comeback album 'I'm New Here British producer Jamie xx remixed 'I'm New Here' with the resulting 'we’re New Here' collection pushes Gil Scott Heron's music back on the dance floor. Informed by his spell in prison, it came also to channel the thoughts of an ageing artist in a continually changing America. Sampling elements of his past work, it served to spark new interest in a provocative artist. However it seems that the unlikely revival has been cut short. BBC News reports that Gil Scott Heron began feeling unwell after a trip to Europe and after undergoing hospital treatment in New York passed away following a short illness.Gil Scott -Heron
