 West Bengal: There was a consensus to rename West Bengal as Paschimbanga was signed Friday a bipartisan meeting to change the nomenclature of the state. Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee suggested the new name and unanimity on it, said Minister of Parliamentary Affairs Partha Chatterjee reporters after the meeting of the Assembly of the State. "It was unanimously decided that the new name of the state will now Paschimbanga in all languages," he said. "We wanted a change in the name of the state administration to have the advantage," at he said. Chief Minister chaired the meeting attended by Trinamool Congress, with Congress and ally SUCI (C) Left front constituent CPI (M), CPI, RSP, Forward Bloc also GJM, among others. Ms. Banerjee had earlier authorized Mr. Chatterjee and opposition leader Surjyakanta Mishra to study the new name of the state. Mr. Chatterjee said the letter "W" in West Bengal was well below in alphabetical order, resulting in disadvantages for the state. "Paschimbanga a new name also reflects the history," he said, adding that a decision would be moved to the Assembly for adoption, which would then be directed to the Centre. Forward Bloc sources said that the selection was made between the proposals for "Paschimbanga", "Bangla" and "Bangabhumi" CPI (M) Mishra, who joined Mr. Chatterjee, a press conference to meet, said: " What you saw in the past, a consensus was reached on the issue all over the meeting.” When the bill to that effect, is two-thirds majority in both October and the Rajya Sabha Sabha and ratified by the President, the state should the new name. Mr. Chatterjee said that the meeting also discussed the duality of Jalpaiguri, Burdwan, West Midnapore and North 24 Parganas districts.
