Bohemian Grove

Bohemian Grove : Every July, a few of the richest and most herculean men in the global gather at a 2,700 acre campground in Monte Rio, Calif., for two weeks of heavy drinking, super-secret talks, druid worship (the group insists they're simply “revering the Redwoods”), and other rituals. Their proposal to escape the “frontier culture,” or uncivilized interests, of common men, The folks that gather at Bohemian Grove - who have included prominent business leaders, former United States. Presidents, musicians, and oil barons - are told that “Weaving Spiders Come Not Here,” meaning business deals are to be left outside. One exception was in 1942, when a planning for the Manhattan Project took place at the grove, leading to the creation of the atom bomb. Spokespersons for Bohemian Grove say the folks that gather there “share a passion for the outdoors, euphony, and theater. The club is so hush-hush that little can be definitively said about it, but much of what we know today is from those who have infiltrated the camp, admitting Texas-based filmmaker Alex Jones. In 2000, Jones and his cameraman entered the camp with a hidden camera and were able to movie a Bohemian Grove ceremony, Cremation of the Care. During the ceremony, members wear costumes and cremate a coffin effigy called “Care” before a 40-foot-owl, in deference to the surrounding Redwood trees. Bohemian Grove’s spokesperson calls the ceremony “a traditional melodic drama celebrating nature and summertime.” The spokesperson also said that while Jones’ comments are inaccurate, the footage is real

walter payton: Lake Forest, sick, according to a new book Chicago Bears star Walter Payton Abuse of painkillers I am retired and commits suicide. In "Sweetness: Walter Payton Enigmatic Life," writer Jeff Pearlman says the Hall of Fame running back used a mixture of Tylenol and codeine to retire, keep tanks of nitrous oxide in his garage, and even Ritalin from a friend whose son has been prescribed pills. Pearlman writes that Payton drew the suspicion of pharmacists and a warning from the police after visiting several drugstores to have a dentist's prescription for morphine filled. Payton's longtime agent, Bud Holmes, is quoted as saying "Walter was pounding his body with medication." The book goes on sale Oct. 4. An excerpt appears in this week's Sports Illustrated. Holmes and Payton's executive assistant, Ginny Quirk, recall receiving suicidal calls at all hours during the mid-1990s, and Pearlman reports Payton was living apart from his wife Connie and having extramarital affairs after retirement. That created an awkward situation at his 1993 Hall of Fame induction, with Connie and his mistress attending. Quirk is quoted as saying it was her job to keep them apart. "The introduction into the Pro Football Hall of Fame is supposed to be the greatest moment in his life," Quirk says. "And in truth, it was probably the worst.. Four full days, and Lita and Connie were like two ships passing in the night. If Connie was scheduled to come late, I'd make sure Lita was there early. If Connie was there early, Lita would be there late. I can't describe the horror of that trip." Payton spent all 13 seasons with the Bears and retired as the NFL's all-time leading rusher after the 1987 season. He died from a rare liver disease and bile duct cancer in 1999. In a statement, the Bears said Payton's "competitive spirit lives with us today. ”When we take the field every Sunday, we represent the great players like Walter, who helped build an organization rich," the organization said. "Nothing can change our feelings of men, and stronger than we lose around Halas Hall for this day."walter payton:

Markoff "Craigslist Killer 'Philip Suicide: Philip Markoff, a medical student at Boston University said: "Craigslist killer" after he allegedly went on a crime spree killer and gambling, suicide in prison today, officials said. Steve Tompkins, Chief of Foreign Affairs, Suffolk County, Massachusetts, said Sheriff Deptartment Markoff has died, apparently of suicide in the Nashua Street Jail. It 'was pronounced dead at 10:17, Tompkins said.A statement from the Suffolk County District Attorney's Office said Markoff was alone in his cell and all evidence indicated that he took his own life. "A comprehensive investigation will be conducted to determine the facts and circumstances surrounding his death," the statement said. A law enforcement source told ABC News that Markoff was able to take a razor blade from one of the disposable razors jail inmates are allowed to use, and he used it to slash not only his wrists but also the femoral artery in his leg. He then wrapped the wound in his leg in a garbage bag to conceal the blood, and put another garbage bag over his head and tied it tight around his neck, the source said. "He didn't come out for breakfast. He didn't come out for morning rec [recreation]. They went in to check on him and he was dead," the law enforcement source said. "He clearly knew what he was doing," the source said. "He used his medical expertise." Sources told ABC News that Markoff was being threatened by fellow inmates because he took their canteens playing chess. Saturday would have been Markoff's first wedding anniversary, had he not been arrested after allegedly attacking and robbing three women he met through ads they had posted online. He had attempted suicide at least twice before since his arrest, sources have told ABC News. Markoff, 23, was facing a slew of charges stemming from the murder of masseuse Julissa Brisman, an aspiring drug counselor from New York City who was shot dead in her room at the Marriot Copley Place Hotel on April 14, 2009. Brisman had allegedly booked a "sexual release" massage appointment with the BU medical student that day. Four days earlier, Markoff allegedly bound and robbed a Las Vegas hooker at the Westin Hotel. And on April 16, 2009, police say he attacked and robbed an exotic dancer at a hotel room in Warwick, R.I. All three victims posted erotic advertisements on the online networking site Craigslist. Markoff was arrested on April 20, 2009, as he and his fiancée, Megan McAllister, were en route to Foxwoods Casino in Mashantucket, Connecticut, where they had reserved an $88 room for the night. Evidence linking Markoff to the crimes, including panties from his victims, plastic handcuffs used to bind them and a gun, were found beneath the bed Markoff shared with McAllister. A few days after his arrest - and his fiancee testified to his innocence - Markoff tried to kill himself in the Nashua Street Jail by pulling the strips of leather boat shoes to create a small loop that wrapped around a bar cell. This landed him in a separate unit for the first 30 days of incarceration. Initially, McAllister stood by Markoff. She sent an email to ABC News the day after his first suicide attempt defends and asserts that the media had the story all wrong.Markoff "Craigslist Killer 'Philip Suicide:

So it’s fresh.” Though Rimes said it took her all of 30 minutes to get ready for their night out, Cibrian needed a little more time. “It took me an hour and a half,” he joked, making Rimes giggle. “And there is a big discrepancy there, and I don’t like that.” So what’d he think of his first New York City runway show? “It’s a lot of hoopla,” the Playboy Club star admitted. “But not too much,” That’s not to say he wouldn’t have preferred to be at a baseball game though. “He’s so boyish,” said Rimes. “So, you know.”Mandy Moore, Julianne Hough and Joanna Garcia Swisher also sat in the front row at the show, which featured bold colored cocktail dresses off and leather-trimmed robes." AEG Acknowledges the Interest of Sacramento Sports and Entertainment Complex

AEG Acknowledges the Interest of Sacramento Sports and Entertainment Complex: It was not a question of whether it was when. Anschutz Entertainment Group, best known as the stadium and field operations giant AEG, first acknowledged on Friday that could "assist" in Sacramento Mayor Johnson, Kevin and Big Think coalition Sacramento in its search for space, according to the bag of the bee. The involvement of AEG, the arena was so secret initiative as LeBron hairline, but without the illusion of a band trying to hide. According to sources, that ‘assistance’ should come in the form of tens of millions of dollars of up-front money, assuming of course that AEG can come to terms with the City of Sacramento, the Kings, and the NBA. In return they would get profits from operating the arena, and using the Six Degrees of Kevin Bacon they could also see benefits from the fact that their partially-owned subsidiary, the ICON-David Taylor Group, is providing the logistical backbone for Think Big Sacramento and its proposals. Taylor, whose development company David Taylor Interests would like to build the arena, has also expressed interest in buying up properties located near the arena. And the AEG, Taylor, Darius Anderson, and many other members of the committee is also to business interests close to the Arena, a mini-genre live THE king of the project because the center is where the Smart Money is going. This is a public declaration of AEG is one of many small steps in Think Big Coalition Sacramento is going, because otherwise run sprints $ 387 million Entertainment and Sports Complex (ESC), which prevents him from leaving the anchor tenant, and Anaheim. KJ’s coalition has a self-imposed, though painfully realistic deadline of December 30th to get a funding plan approved so the city can meet the NBA’s deadline of March 1, 2012 to have funding in place. The next test for the Think Big coalition will come today when the Sacramento City Council will either approve, table, or reject a $550,000 request for lawyers and consultants to be used to officially vet the project and negotiate with third parties such as the NBA and the Maloofs. The city council will also be asked to vote whether to give the ICON-David Taylor Group the authority to start negotiating on behalf of the city with operators. Here’s betting that the operator is AEG. As for Kings Fans’ chances of keeping their team, Tuesday’s vote will be the first time the city council, which will ultimately decide the project’s fate, will be asked to part with cold, hard cash. If any of them are opposed to it, saying so before the city spends a half-million dollars would make some sense. With no real public opposition being shown by the council so far it is likely that they will approve the request, and see what numbers come through the pipeline and how the public reacts to them. If the request is approved, negotiations will commence with the aforementioned parties to determine what level of private funding can be secured, and in turn what level of public funding will be needed. Sources from Think Big Sacramento are in agreement that a public vote to generate funds for an ESC would be an abject failure, so they don’t plan on using public funds that would trigger a public vote. Because of this limitation they’ve taken a kitchen sink approach where everything from hotel fees, ticket surcharges, cell phone towers on the arena, and the sale of city lands have all come into play. Local kids have taken to selling lemonade to raise funds, and Think Big may just need it. But finding enough money to hit the magic number isn’t their only challenge. Make sure that the city is convenient to vote "yes" is the measure at issue is the task No. 1 So far, the Think Big campaign is a coalition of town hall meetings to go out presidential race throughout the region, and the media campaign has not seen before in political arena. While there will always be skeptics and opponents of this measure, we do not know that the last city council meeting, where every commentator has argued the public arena and found the voices of dissent. Today we will see, if the first is shown.AEG Acknowledges the Interest of Sacramento Sports and Entertainment Complex:

Romo Will Return As The Washington Redskins Visit The Dallas Cowboys

Romo Will Return As The Washington Redskins Visit The Dallas Cowboys : Frank Doyle Monday play previews tonight Night Football Washington visits Dallas! It took all week for the NFL betting line for this game to emerge as the world waited for news of Tony Romo. The news has finally arrived in Dallas will be a favorite at home three points with Romo in the center, where Washington Irving comes to take on the Cowboys. Will it be the full Romo though? Boomer Esiason questioned the Dallas doctors over the weekend, wondering just how fit to play Romo can be with a fractured rib and a “tiny tear” in his lung. It’s a tricky question for the League. Player safety is of greater concern to the NFL than it has been but the sport’s ethos is still about tough guys playing through pain. Sir Charles Barkley crossed sports during the week to say he thought Romo had to return to the field against San Francisco, because he would never be forgiven if he didn’t. Whatever. Tony Romo will start tonight with some sort of flak jacket protection to defend against DeAngelo Hall placing a mental bulls-eye on Romo’s ribcage and looking forward to taking a good shot at him at some stage during the hour. After so many seasons of disappointment since the glory days of the first Joe Gibbs Era, there’s a giddy atmosphere about Washington right now. A ball control offense and good defense sees the Redskins off to a 2-0, 1-1-0 ATS start and a popular bet to spring a surprise on Dallas tonight. And Felix Jones has a separated shoulder. There’s a case to be made for substituting the Cowboys’ famous helmet star with a band-aid for tonight’s game. Washington is bringing a lot of attitude this year. DeAngelo Hall’s comments about targeting Romo follow a trend set by Rex Grossman when he said that Washington would win the NFC East. But for all their trash-talking, the truth is that the Redskins had to come from behind against both Minnesota and Arizona to get their 2-0 start. One of these days, the wind will change and they will be captured this way. Grossman and Romo are stars, but this game that the defense is likely to dominate. Washington's defense is good and DeMarcus Ware Dallas led the league in sacks last year. The over / under for the game is set to take the 45 most intelligent play in this Monday night.Romo Will Return As The Washington Redskins Visit The Dallas Cowboys

The Pittsburgh Steelers

The Pittsburgh Steelers: Pittsburgh Steelers Ben Roethlisberger and the defense are late in the championship game did it again? James Harrison, the late Curtis Painter and the sack of Troy Polamalu of the 16-yard fumble return for a touchdown gave the Steelers at the end of the second half to lead. Shaun Suisham Roethlisberger set for 38-yard field goal with 4 seconds left to give the 23-20 victory at Indianapolis on Sunday night Pittsburgh. It looked nothing like the Steelers' trademark pattern until the closing minutes. Roethlisberger turned over the ball three times during an 11-minute span in the first half, Pittsburgh 2-1 rushed for only 67 yards and the vaunted Steelers defense produced only one sack the one Polamalu scored on. But the Steelers took Roethlisberger finished 60 yard goal kick Suisham March. Roethlisberger was 25 with 37,364 yards a touchdown. Mike Wallace caught five passes for 144 yards and 81-yard score, the longest of his career. Feisty but the Colts 0-3 rallied from a 10-point deficit in the first half, took a 13-10 halftime lead and not lag behind again until Polamalu scored with 5:13 still the game. Joseph Addai ran 17 times for 86 yards and scored on a 6-yard run that tied it at 20 with 2:09 to go. Indy's defense just couldn't hold it. Pittsburgh took advantage quickly. It got a 48-yard field goal from Suisham on the opening possession and took advantage of a terrible mismatch linebacker Pat Angerer on Wallace for the 81-yard pass to make it 10-0 in the first quarter. So Indy defense did its best imitation of Pittsburgh. Robert Mathis removed Roethlisberger on a sack near midfield and recovered the ball as set up Adam Vinatieri from 21 yards to midfield through the lens of the second quarter. On the next series, Dwight Freeney stripped from the opposite side, Roethlisberger on another bag. Jamaal Anderson picked up the ball, cut in midfield and used a block Conner brilliant man to overcome a 47-yard score. It's 10-10.

Heather Locklear at 50: 80 TV Icon's Career Bad B movie

Heather Locklear at 50: 80 TV Icon's Career Bad B movie: The queen of television 80 years is now the big 5-0. The California girl is as fair as ever, recently announced that is dedicated to her "Melrose Place" costar Jack Wagner, and always kept busy with made-for-TV. But perhaps the star of the TV-a list that have stayed with the small screen: Her film roles have been an uneasy mix of bad decisions. Here, we look back at the cringe-inducing parts in Locklear's campy career. Creature Featur, Even with parts in the hit shows "Dynasty" and "T.J. Hooker," in 1989 Locklear landed her first awful movie role in "The Return of the Swamp Thing." The part: Locklear plays the love interest of this slimy monster think "Godzilla" in the Everglades. The star even extolled the virtues of her character to People magazine this way: "Since my character owns a plant shop, it's only natural she should enjoy making love to a plant." Obviously, actors in the TV world these days can be choosier. Olivia Wilde moved from the TV drama "House" to blockbusters like "Tron: Legacy" and "Cowboys and Aliens” and seems to be well on the way to a major Hollywood career. But movie roles for TV actors in the '80s, not so much, Burning up Locklear probably hoped to set the screen on fire with the 1984 movie "Firestarter." Locklear plays a woman who participated in a medical experiment gone bad that gives her psychic abilities and causes her daughter to set fire to stuff with her mind. The sci-fi flick did launch Drew Barrymore's career the young star played the creepy kid. We're thinking the movie burned Locklear in more ways than one. Melrose Redux In "Uptown Girls", Amanda Locklear channels Witchy "Melrose Place", this time with a career-oriented mother of a young Dakota Fanning. His character taking late Brittany Murphy is at the mercy of his son. This chick is a harmless but forgettable films followed in 2005 was "The Perfect Man" with Amanda, UM, Locklear to play her daughter only to Hilary Duff. I do not remember? Herman Cain Upsets Gov. Rick Perry to Win Florida GOP Straw vote

Herman Cain Upsets Gov. Rick Perry to Win Florida GOP Straw vote: Businessman Herman Cain won the poll of Florida on Saturday against Texas Governor Rick Perry, the GOP presidential pioneer, that only a couple of days before the debate delivered a performance that was widely panned. Cain finished with 37 percent of the vote, while Perry, driven by 15 percent. The former governor of Massachusetts. Mitt Romney followed with 14 percent while former U.S. Sen. Rick Santorum drew 11 percent. U.S. Rep. Ron Paul finished with 10.5 percent, former Speaker Newt Gingrich finished with 8.5 percent, while former Utah Gov. Jon Huntsman finished with 2 percent. U.S. Rep. Michele Bachmann, who won the Iowa straw poll in August, finished with just 1 percent of the vote. "Thank you to the Republican voters for this incredible honor of being named the winner of the Presidency 5 straw poll in Florida today," Cain said in a statement after the results were in. "This is a sign of our growing momentum and my candidacy that cannot be ignored. I will continue to share my message of 'common sense solutions' across this country and look forward to spending more time in Florida, a critical state for both the nomination and the general election," he said. Perry, who was expected to finish strong had told the more than 3,000 GOP activists who came from across the state that his rivals made a mistake by skipping the straw poll.. Romney and Bachmann had both left Florida before the voting began and their campaigns discounted the straw poll's role in the campaign. Other first-tier candidates hadn't actively organized for the Florida vote, either. So the results probably won't shuffle the campaign's standings and were shaping up as little more than a popularity contest among the delegates selected by local party organizations. Ahead of the test vote, Perry's campaign bought breakfast for hundreds of the party faithful assembled for a three-day conference and debate. Perry said skipping the straw poll was a blunder. "I think that's a big mistake. I think it's very important," Perry said, citing its history. Previous straw polls have predicted the GOP nominee. Ronald Reagan won in 1979, George H.W. Bush in 1987 and Kansas Sen. Bob Dole in 1995. The Republican Party of Florida, however, has not organized the test vote in recent years. Perry, a late entrant into the Republican primary who quickly led national polls, stumbled in recent weeks. His strident defense of in-state tuition rates for illegal immigrants put him on the wrong side of the GOP's conservative base. Its competitor worked in opposition to the benefit of a fence along the US-Mexico border, and its support for mandatory vaccination of girls against the sexually transmitted disease. Questioning Florida win may help, especially before the deadline Friday for the latest snapshot of fundraising. Florida, led by Perry, after a Republican rally Saturday, Mackinac Island, Michigan. Romney, son of former governor of Michigan, is also set to address the crowd, where he spent his youth.Herman Cain Upsets Gov. Rick Perry to Win Florida GOP Straw vote:
